What is the difference between Edge and Three Tech?

Okay, we don't, I took the graphic out because I was scrolling looking for it, Clay.

I can find it pretty quick, but we'll explain it.

So, Andres, the way that the positioning on the defensive line is communicated across the NFL, across football in general, is

you're talking techniques. So you've got your offensive line, right? You've got your center,

your guards, your tackles. When you're describing how a defensive lineman lines up,

each offensive lineman have an even number attached to them. So if you're over over top of the center just nose up on the center, that's a zero tech.

If you're lined up straight up on the guards, that's a two tech.

If you're lined up straight on the tackles, that's a four tech.

So the numbers that are odd are in between.

So when we say a three tech, you're talking about center zero,

guard two, tackle four, splitting the guard and the tackle would be a three tech. Okay. And typically

you put your best interior defensive lineman in that three tech because you use your nose to your

nose tackle to play a one tech because you're going to, again,

you're closer to the quarterback, so you're going to eat up a double team most likely with that.
