Welcome to the Peter King Podcast, and early March edition of the podcast and a lot going on. I'm going to be joined in a moment by Paul Burmeister, my friend from NBC Sports, and we're going to discuss some of the current events.

and the rookie general manager, the Detroit Lions, Brad Holmes. But Paul, let me just give you a couple of observations I had on Dac Prescott. Number one, you know, I'll never forget after the Super Bowl, I guess now it was eight, eight years ago, seven or eight years ago, when basically Joe Flocco of the Baltimore Ravens bet on himself.

He basically wanted to play out his contract and told the Ravens, hey, listen, if I bet on myself and I win, I'm going to hit the jackpot, and if I don't, hey, you might decide to let me go and not re-sign me after my contract expires.

And he won the Super Bowl. He was the Super Bowl. after my contract expires.

And he won the Super Bowl.

He was the Super Bowl MVP and got paid a contract that averaged

$20 million a year.

Well now, here we are eight years later and so what has

happened? The contract for the top quarterbacks in the NFL has now doubled with the news that

Dac Prescott has signed a four-year 160 million contract

extension $160 million contract extension.

And what I think is most notable about this basically because I don't think fans care

about guarantees and, you know, average value, all that stuff.

There's two important things here.

Number one, quarterback stand alone in the NFL economic empire.

They just do, and they always will.

Right now, we've got three quarterbacks, basically,

Dac Prescott, Patrick Mahomes, and Deshaun Watson,

who are right in that 40 million a year,

give or take a few million average.
