cut down I don't know if there's going to be a day too but they're very possibly could be because

there's a lot to contemplate here as far as who's going to make the team and who isn't I do want to

kind of back up though because I don't want to make the mistake of assuming everybody just knows what the heck is going on right now.

So I want to very briefly just do a little bit of a back-to-basics thing

and then kind of move forward from there.

So first and foremost, the Green Bay Packers and presumably all or at least most

teams are sitting at 90 players right now. By August 26th, 4 p.m. Eastern, 3 o'clock central time,

Packers time, all NFL teams have to cut down to 53. So in the offseason, you're given a lot of

players, and then you're

able to whittle that back down. Typically speaking, and we'll get into the specifics of the Packers in a

minute, you're looking at two to three quarterbacks, three or four running backs, five to seven

receivers, eight to ten linemen, four to five tight ends, eight to ten defensive linemen, four to six

linebackers, four to 6 corners, 4 to 5

safeties, and 3 specialists. Almost never is that last one different, although sometimes

it is for stupid reasons. So when we talk about cut down day, we're trying to figure out who

fits into these categories and then who's left out. Now you don't make the 53 there is another thing

called the practice squad part of the reason i want to go back through this uh very simply is because

i had one of those moments yesterday for those of you that have kids you might relate to this

where they ask you a very simple question and you can't just directly
