The law derives from July 29, 1861.

This is civil war law, rebellion, insurrection, the Confederacy rising.

It is peculiar to revisit the civil war, but it really isn't very far behind us.

We also have remarks by the governor, by the mayor, by a potential candidate, Mr. Caruso,

by Tom Homan, the director of ICE, and then details about the National Guard, California,

and details about the Marines from Camp Pendland, I believe, so far.

I begin with the leadership because there have been in cross purposes these last hours.

The President of the United States earlier in the day indicated that things were under control,

and then the Marines. Was there a noticeable change of demonstrators during the day?

Or are they anticipating something that hasn't happened yet?

And the president's remarks, he was straightforward about his powers as president.

I didn't see him even hesitate.
