and specifically we're going to talk about beta blockers,

calcium channel blockers, ace arbs, and the diuretics.

So let's start with the beta blockers.

First thing you need to know, there's two beta receptors.

There's a beta one and a beta two. The beta one receptors are found in cardiac muscle. This includes

the S. A and the AV node. And by stimulating these receptors, we stimulate the S. A and the A node and by stimulating these receptors we stimulate the

S A node which will increase the heart rate and ultimately increase cardiac

output. If we block these receptors then we have the opposite effect

so that means we're going to slow the heart down.

We're going to allow more time for the ventricle to fill and you're going to decrease that oxygen demand.

Another place beta receptors are found are in the kidney.
