My name's Aubrey Gordon.

I co-host a podcast called Maintenance Phase, and I've written a couple of books,

mostly about being a very fat lady.

Sure.

Can I ask when and how did you start getting into writing about dieting discourse

and anti-fatness? Yeah. My first piece that I wrote was actually a letter to a friend of mine who

was a thin lady and she and I just never quite saw eye to eye.

We would talk about body image stuff.

We would talk about eating disorder stuff.

We would talk about all manner of things.

And we would always just sort of miss each other in those conversations.

So we sort of kept missing each other in those conversations.

So I wrote her a letter to be like,

hey, I feel like there's this big missing piece, which is you're having a tough time

acknowledging that you being in the body that you are in and me being in the body that I am in

invites really different experiences. And like, let's spend some time talking about that. So I sent it to a friend of

mine to proofread the letter and make sure I wasn't being an absolute jerk. And he suggested

posting it somewhere online. So I did. And within about a week, it was either 30 or 40,000 people
