A few weeks ago, my fiancé Renee and I drove down a dirt road and parked in front of

this beautiful gate.

It kind of had a castle vibe, a compact square tower on each side connected by this arch

which held a sign over the middle of the road and painted an orange were the words,

Oyo Tungi, Europe of Village.

The front of us is Oyo Tungi, Europe of Village and around us is, you know, well-o-trees

and South Carolina Forest.

A friend of mine had told me about Oyo Tungi, a real African village right here in the

U.S., just an hour south of Charleston, South Carolina.

And it's not one of those tourist places where people in period costumes are recreating
