Brian Falduto - known as 'that gay kid' from School of Rock with Jack Black. Brian and I recorded for both of our podcasts so here you will hear me talk a bit about my own story too which I know you've heard before. Brian tells me his experience with anxiety which - though it has been building his entire life - really only surfaced quite recently and it is only now something he is confronting. Brian talks in particular about his experience after the movie came out, the bullying he endured for the character he played - which Brian says was just Brian - and the shame and homophobia he turned back on himself as a teenager. Eventually, this coupled with other lifestyle factors, would lead to Brian experiencing some pretty rough anxiety that became quite debilitating. So he went on to Spotify to find some podcasts on the topic, and he came across me. Enjoy and do follow Brian on TheGayLifeCoach as well as his own BrianFalduto page.

Hello, dear listener and welcome back to owning it the anxiety podcast with me, Caroline

Forin. This week I have a guest called Brian Falduto. He is the host of the gay life coach

0:33.6

podcast, also probably most prominently known as quote unquote, that gay kid from School of

0:38.8

Rock. He was a child actor. He is a life coach these days. He's a singer-songwriter. He does many

0:43.7

things. So Brian reached out to me and asked me to be on his podcast because he's a fan of this

0:48.0

podcast and he wanted to share his experience of anxiety. And we got to talking and realized that

0:53.0

maybe our conversation could appear on both of

0:55.1

our podcasts so there is a little bit in this episode of me talking through my story my background which

1:00.8

I know you've heard all before but then Brian shares with me his story his experience which is just

1:05.5

so interesting and really quite a recent thing for him so it's only been in the last year that the

1:10.7

anxiety really came to a head for him and So it's only been in the last year that the anxiety really came to

1:11.7

a head for him and he's been forced to confront it and no longer be in denial about it and the

1:17.5

extent at which it was impacting his life negatively. So we have a great chat around anxiety in

1:24.0

general. The reasons why we're struggling perhaps more with it these days, so many

1:29.1

different mindset changes and things that have helped us, the language changes, as well as sharing

both of our stories so far. I think this is probably one of the longer podcasts that I've done,

1:39.0

and that I could have just spoke to Brian for so long. He just has such a beautiful way of

1:43.7

articulating things, and I need say no more.

1:47.5

I will hand it over now to our chat and hope that you get something from it. Thank you as always for

1:52.7

listening. Thank you for the reviews and the feedback and for sharing it with anyone who you think

1:57.4

it might be relevant for or helpful for, I always so massively appreciate it.
