Summary

Sarah was inspired by a question she received at a presentation she was giving to discuss the feeling of overwhelm, and how (at least sometimes!) planning can be helpful during those times, even when it can feel extraneous or like something we don't have time for. She also discusses what to do if the more elaborate planning systems (such as her Nested Goals Method) feel overwhelming at the start. Finally, Sarah announces the online version of Best Laid Plans Live, Planning 2024! Visit theshubox.com/courses for details. Episode Sponsors: PrepDish: Healthy and strategic meal planning! Today we're going to talk a little bit about overwhelm,

0:23.5

which was inspired today because I actually gave a talk in a kind of corporate setting. It was really fun. I've been doing a little bit of

0:29.5

this. It started at a legal tech conference where I had a friend that was a connection. And then that

of my goal setting methods, but what if you just felt overwhelmed by it all? And I really did think

1:09.0

that was a great question. I have an idea of how I did answer her and how I wanted to answer her, but it made me think

1:15.2

about the feeling of overwhelm in general, probably because I wouldn't say I'm all the way

1:19.9

tipped towards overwhelm right now, but it's been kind of a crazy past few weeks.

1:26.2

I always feel under the weeds after a week on call

1:29.3

because I shove everything else aside. And then I had planned some travel for that week.

1:33.9

So that wasn't like a normal week either. And yeah, I wouldn't say I'm overwhelmed right now,

1:39.9

but I certainly am having to employ some of the strategies I've had to use in the path

1:43.6

when I truly did feel overwhelmed. So some of the strategies I've had to use in the path when I truly did feel overwhelmed.

1:46.5

So thinking about it, I've had various periods of my life where I can say with certainty that I felt overwhelmed.

1:53.5

First of all, in college, whenever I had multiple things do it once and found certain material very challenging, I felt overwhelmed.

I wasn't always the best about
