Summary

To give you an idea of my typical planning toolbox, today's episode features a planner 'walk through' of the Hobonichi Techo Cousin planner system and the accessories I love to use with it it. Discussions include using calendar pages for tracking, time blocking, and daily planning. There's also a mention of a few of my favorite (and not-so-favorite) digital tools. At the time of this episode's recording I was experimenting with a bullet journal. I enjoy that approach so more on that in the future. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Hello and welcome to episode three of best laid plans. Today we are going to talk about

0:19.6

my current system, which is always in flux, but I figure I owe it to you to at least go through the products that I'm using right now and I'll kind of walk you through organically as I hold on to this actual system, as well as some no experiments I've been playing with lately, and then finally, a brief

0:39.1

overview of some of the digital systems that I use to keep organized. Because even though I

0:43.8

absolutely love paper, I will admit that not everything is best organized on paper. And I do

0:51.0

believe that for many people, the hybrid approach can be a really nice way to combine those two

0:56.9

strategies to really be able to have that tactile experience and visual experience of paper,

1:01.9

but also be able to collect easily searchable information in the digital realm. So here we go. We're

1:09.0

going to talk about my current planner, which is a

1:12.3

hobonichi Techo cousin. I know I mentioned that in a prior episode, but just in case you

1:18.0

missed it, that is what I am mostly using now. And again, I play with my system a lot, and I'll

1:24.7

admit that I actually in the last week have taken a foray into bullet

1:28.7

journaling, which I will talk about later. But for now, we'll kind of go back one week because

1:34.7

for months and years before that, I have used this beautiful homoichi. So the homonichi

1:41.0

Techo cousin is in the A5 size and it has both daily, weekly, and monthly

1:48.2

views.

1:49.2

They have very beautiful covers that are all different styles.

1:53.5

I mean, they have plain black leather covers, plain colored leather covers, different fabric

1:59.6

covers, really simple nylon covers, and then they often

2:03.1

have a number of different kind of pattern and stylized covers. And this year, I chose a beautiful

2:10.3

print of a lake. It was a photo actually that was printed onto the cover taken by Hiroshi

2:16.1

Hatano. And the lake itself is in Japan of course

2:19.6

because that's where the Hobonichi planners are made and it's just this beautiful serene scene
