Back in the summer, this was the most anticipated home game of the Notre Dame football season,

and Notre Dame Stadium pulled out all the stops. It provided a fun, raucous atmosphere for the crowd under the lights.

Players loved it, and I think the fans were rewarded. 52 to 3 over Florida State, John Bryce.

We expected a beating.

That was an evisceration and really came in three quarters because Florida State, quality start.

Maybe 16-play drive and only yielded a field goal, but it seemed to settle down the game a little bit before the Irish could take off.

Yeah, that 16-play drive early just sort of kept Notre Dame from offensively developing

a rhythm that would allow the Irish to completely run away from their guests in the first

half.

But Notre Dame proved the superior team in all phases, and as our intrepid intern, Noah Farizzi pointed out,

somewhere along the lines of the second worst loss ever in Florida State program history.

And that's two in the last 11 months because the other one, of course,

was you want to talk about eviscerations.

They were buried under the soil of the bowl game by Georgia.

I think that was the Orange Bowl last year around 63 to 3. So that's a bad Florida State team.

This is what I contend an ever-improving Notre Dame team. I don't think there's a turning point in

this game, but there was one, I think, coaching mistake by Mike Norvell near the end of the

first half, 41 seconds left. Notre Dame has a third in 17. Riley Leonard completes a 15-year

pass for Bo Collins at the FSU 44-yard line. They are choosing to kick a very long field goal

with Zach Yocum, and Norville calls timeout to preserve 41 seconds.

His last timeout, so he would really have trouble mounting much of a drive there, although
