You can follow along as I read. The Apostle Paul is writing to the church there in Thessalonica,

and beginning here in chapter 4, he kind of turns a corner of source and says verse 1,

as for other matters, brothers and sisters,

we instructed you how to live in order to please God as in fact you are living. Now, we ask you

and urge you in the Lord Jesus to do this more and more.

For you know, verse 2, what instructions we gave you by the authority of the Lord Jesus.

It is God's will that you should be sanctified, that you should

avoid sexual immorality. Now I need to parenthetically say before we move on to verse 4 that this word translated sexual immorality in the original language

of the Greek New Testament is the Greek word pornea from where we get our English word for porn

or pornography, sexual immorality. And it broadly encompasses sexual sin and sexual sin outside of

marriage, which is adultery, sexual sin before marriage, fornication, and all sexual immorality,

in particular, internet pornography.

Why are you looking at me like that?

This is what happens when you teach the Bible, book by book, chapter by chapter, and verse by verse, you can't skip

passages like this. Believe me, there are times where I just think, no, Lord, not today.

No, today. Okay. All right, verse four. That each of you should learn to control your own body. It gets worse, okay?

Control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the pagans who do not know God.

And that in this matter, no one should wrong or take advantage of a brother or sister.

The Lord will punish all those who commit such sins as we told you

and warned you before. For God, verse 7, did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life therefore verse 8 anyone who rejects this instruction

does not reject a human being but God the very God who gives you His Holy Spirit.
