Hello, this is Hugo Rifkin, and now we're going to be unpacking the politics of the day and the stuff that's even more important than politics too.

0:12.0

From Reform UK's efforts to keep out the far right to trigger warnings at the Edinburgh Festival to why so many MPs are doing the Westminster Walk and Talk.

0:19.5

Yes, they can walk and talk at the same time. But before we start, a trigger warning for anyone who isn't comfortable with excellent analysis and riveting conversation. Because I'm joined by Charlotte Ivers. Hello, Charlotte. Hello, Hugo. I'm very flattered as ever. Well, you should be. I didn't write it. And Seb Payne. Hello, Seb. Hello, Hugo. You seem to have become Alan Partridge over the weekend.

0:37.9

What do you mean? I paid you a compliment, a radio-friendly compliment.

0:34.1

Very radio-friendly that you could hear on North Norfolk Radio, I think. Well, thank you. I mean, he's my idol. I aspire to be like him. There's that Twitter feed. I don't know if it still exists.

Accidental partridge.

0:37.3

I've only got into it on purpose so far,

0:38.9

but one day I hope to get into it by mistake.

1:13.2

Look, there's much less fun, but there's only one place to start talking about the news today. That's, of course, the meeting in the White House. 1:26.6

Speaking to Times Radio this morning, the government minister Stephen Kinnock said there can't be an agreement that stops Ukraine joining the EU or NATO. The security guarantees that are being discussed are extremely important, also very

1:33.0

important that there's nothing around Ukraine having to reduce its military capability,

1:38.0

and there's nothing around Ukraine having to be constrained in terms of its pathways

1:43.1

to international partnerships such as the European

1:46.3

Union and NATO. Charlotte, as a European nation, we have a role, of course, in Ukraine. We have a stake

1:54.2

in what happens in Ukraine, our safety and security, and it is very much in the balance as well.

2:00.7

But Kirstama being there today,

2:03.5

is there anything he can usefully do? Is he there as a minder to make sure that Donald Trump

2:07.2

doesn't duff up Selensky again? I think that's basically, isn't it? I think it's an important

2:12.9

symbolic move for all of these European leaders to be in place. Do I think they're going to change the

2:18.3

outcome of the negotiations? Not really. And as well, it's probably helpful to have them sort of

2:23.7

in the next room because, you know, there are questions about whether there should be peacekeeping
