I'm Juleskill Peterson, and listeners, you know your gal is the biggest history queen out there. And one of the things I've learned about gay and trans history along the

way is that they really aren't like missing or disappeared from the world we live in,

despite the fact that you don't get to learn about them very easily, or, you know,

the state of Florida says no one in school can, unless it's scare the children.

But honestly, what I've really learned from doing historical research is that it's kind of more like gay and trans history hides in plain sight, including wherever you're listening from, I guarantee it.

And I think one of the most exciting parts about digging into the gay and trans past is just really kind of learning how to decode

its signs that are everywhere around you, whether you live in a place that's sort of already

reputed for being particularly historical, like maybe New York City or San Francisco,

or if you call the Deep South home. So speaking of one of my
