I would say it is a flavor.

It's just not a flavor anyone would actually put in a latte.

It tastes like earth.

I learned this because I tried to make at home syrup once for the pumpkin spice latte

and involved actual pumpkin, and it was the nastiest thing in the world.

So yeah.

You're like, all right, back to just cloves.

I'm Christina Cotarucci, a senior writer at Slate.

And I too have a PSA.

Actually, I want to remind our queer fam that Halloween is straight pride.

So, you know, watch yourselves out there.

They're going to be flaunting their sexuality.

They're going to be getting trashed in public.

They're going to be getting in messy streetside fights with their exes. You don't

have to like it, but you do have to respect their culture. So, you know, give them their space,

leave them be, and let them have their pride. That's very generous of you, Christina. I appreciate that.
