to the era that we call early modern, to the Renaissance, to the surprisingly transgender

shenanigans that Europeans were getting up to before the world got all modern.

I'll be chatting with Colby Gordon, who's a professor, and the author of a new book,

Glorious Bodies, Transiologyology, and Renaissance Literature.

Colby is a good friend, and he's a fellow traveler of mine in the academic realm.

But as devoted listeners to this show, probably know my area of expertise as a historian is 20th century America.

So this is all kind of new information to me, too.

I'm really excited to find out about how

Christianity had some very interesting divergent beliefs about sex and gender at different

periods. So stick around because after this short break, we are diving into all the tea about

the demons and the angels and the miraculous divinity that is sex.

Colby Gordon is an associate professor of English at Brinmore College, where he researches and teaches, among other things, Shakespeare, Renaissance literature, a transgender

studies, queer theory, and religion, and literature. He's also the author of the book we're

here to dive into today, the gloriously titled Glorious Bodies, Trans Theology and Renaissance
