Summary

Christina and Bryan discuss the finer points of new queer Christmas movies—like, how realistic is Netflix’s Single All The Way?—and why that harness joke in Lifetime’s Under The Christmas Tree was so jarring. We’re also joined by some special guests who share Prides and Provocations from the past year and explore Premonitions for 2022. We close the year with bell hooks and trans triumphs in the Gay Agenda. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Hello, and welcome to Outward for our final episode of 2021. I'm Brian Lauder, Editor of Outward,

0:18.4

and if this is the last time you hear me on the show, it's because I went insane trying to coordinate

0:23.6

the timers on my new Christmas window candles, and I just finally jumped off one.

0:29.2

I'm Christina Cotterucci, a senior writer at Sleep, and I've been thinking a lot about something

0:35.2

lately. It seems like everything that I did in the 90s is coming back to haunt us, fashion-wise.

0:43.9

And I want to just put in a note of recommendation for something that hasn't fully come back yet,

0:48.4

which is body glitter. I'm not talking about the kind of glitter you put on your eyes or your

0:53.3

lips or whatever. I feel like that's sort of come back, but I'm talking about shoulders, collar

Is this for your party glitter or all the time glitter that you're wanting?

1:26.8

1:33.5

which is that you could wear it to school. It wasn't just certainly it would be heightened for a

1:39.6

party, but definitely not just around the holidays. And you wouldn't be judged for wearing it to

1:45.4

a casual occasion. If I had one wish this holiday season, however, it would be for next year

1:52.6

to be the year of casual body glitter. I love that wish. I share it with you. If you'll share with

1:57.4

me the wish that my window candles get on the same time tonight because it is very stressful when

2:03.2

they don't come on at the same time. Every now and then Brian, you say something that really makes

2:08.2

me feel like I've gotten a peek inside that beautiful head of yours. This is one of those moments

2:13.4

where like, wow, what would it be like to be Brian Louder? I will certainly send a wish into
