Hey there from CNN. I'm David Rind with the five things you need to know for Friday,

January 9th. Two American cities are on edge from two separate shootings involving federal

immigration agents. Last night, protest and vigils took place across the country a day after

an ICE agent fatally shot a woman in Minneapolis. The head of Minnesota's Bureau of Criminal Apprehension says his agency had, quote, reluctantly

withdrawn from the investigation because of lack of cooperation from federal officials.

At a news conference today, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Fry said the federal government should allow

local investigators access to evidence.

They should have no concern about having a full and transparent investigation here.

And the fact that they are for some reason concerned about having other, by the way, police

involved, other law enforcement involved through the BCA, that is wildly concerning.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, Oregon officials are investigating a shooting involving border

patrol agents in Portland that wounded a married couple in a vehicle.

The Department of Homeland Security alleged the couple are linked to a Venezuelan gang,

with an agent firing a shot after

the driver tried to run them over. Federal authorities gave no details of the alleged link to the gang

Trende Aragua. In response, Portland Mayor Keith Wilson is calling for ICE to stop its operations in
