There seem to be a few teams that consistently outperform their public analytics while

we hear whispers that the private models look on them much

more favorably. Is there anything that those of us who don't have access to these private analytics

can do to bridge the gap and understanding beyond just waiting a few years for patterns to emerge?

Yeah, so a couple of things. I think right off the bat, Corey Schneider's tracking data is immensely valuable.

I lean on it a ton. He has it on Patreon and it's packaged in a nice Excel sheet. And the main

thing that he's able to track, which isn't captured in public models is passing data. And that's

where I remember the St. Louis Blues, for example, in 2021, 22,

there were this team that had a really high percentage.

Public metrics didn't necessarily love them.

And yet you would look at some of Corey's tracking data.
