Summary
The final season opens the way a premiere probably should: with a big emotional homecoming, a whole lot of Ridge warmth, and just enough mess to remind you this show never lets anyone stay comfortable for long. Mary and Blake are thrilled to be back in Outlander with Bear McCreary, Fraser's Ridge, and all the familiar faces — but they also dig into the episode's biggest problem: the Faith thread, which feels less like elegant storytelling and more like the show getting a little too cute for its own good.
Ratings
Mary's Kilt Rating: 4.2 / 5
Blake's Kilt Rating: 3.8 / 5
Mary, who famously never goes easy on premieres, still lands pretty high here because the episode feels like a genuine homecoming. Blake's a little lower: he loves the Ridge reunion, Frank's presence, and the emotional texture of being back — but the "Faith of it all" drags the score down.

Episode Snapshot
Jamie and Claire head back to Fraser's Ridge, and the premiere wisely leans into that sense of reunion. Everyone's back, the house is full, the hugs are doing heavy lifting, and for a little while the episode lets itself enjoy being home. But under all that comfort is a much stranger tension: Frank's book hangs over the story, Black Jack Randall echoes creep back in, William is spiraling hard, and the episode's big Faith twist raises way more questions than confidence. Add in creepy Cunningham energy and a mother who feels like the Wicked Witch of the West, and you've got a premiere that's emotionally rich, occasionally goofy, and definitely ready to start arguments.
