policy editor at the Bullwork, and I'm joined by our regular Bill Galston of the Brookings

Institution and the Wall Street Journal, Linda Chavez of the Nyscanon Center and Damon

Linger who writes the substack newsletter Eyes on the Right.

Our special guest this week is Peter Wainer who writes for the Atlantic and the New York

Times.

Before we begin, I'd like to just express our concern for Floridians and perhaps now South

Carolinians who are in the path of or have already experienced Hurricane Ian, we're thinking

of you.

Everyone has favorite charities I know but I'll just put in a word for a world-central

kitchen which does amazing work wherever people are in need, most recently in Ukraine.

They've also been in Pakistan, they are amazing and they're on the ground in Florida right

now providing meals for people.

So with that, let us turn to our first topic which is the rise of right-wing populace.

So right-wing populace parties are continuing to make gains around the world in Sweden.

The Sweden Democrats received a bit more than 20% of the vote recently to become the

largest party in the new center-right coalition in that country and in Italy this week the

brothers of Italy, a party that traces its roots to fascism, received more than 26% of

the vote making it Italy's largest party and Georgia Malone will be the next Prime Minister.
