Hello, everybody, and welcome to a very short special episode of Bad Gays, a podcast about evil and complicated

queers in history. I'm Ben Miller, a writer and researcher, and a member of the board of the

Shulis Museum in Berlin. And as many of you probably already know, Hugh and I have written

a book, Bad Gays, a Homosexual History, which is coming out on May 31st in both the UK and the

U.S. and is available for pre-order now at badgayspod.com slash book. I'm reaching out today to let

you know about our UK tour dates, which we are ready to announce all of now. It's going to be a very

exciting tour. We're going to make it to every nation in Great Britain. We're not making it to Northern Ireland this time, but hopefully very soon. And we will have some U.S. tour dates and some European tour dates to announce very soon. So keep your eyes peeled for that. But today we're just going to talk about the events in the U.K. Because there are a lot of them, and we're excited about each and everyone.

So on June 1st in London, we have the first of our three London events, which is a gala launch

at Studio Voltaire and Clapham Common.

And we're going to be joined for that event by Mark Thompson, who is a really inspirational

and important and brilliant activist for racial justice, for

justice for queer people. Most recently, he co-founded the online archive Black and Gay

back in the day, which people should check out on Instagram. And so we're really excited to have

that conversation there with him.

On June 3rd, we're going to head to Foyles at Charing Cross in London to record a live episode of the show with the brilliant Sean Faye, who is a friend of the show and who has

also just written a book called The Transgender Issue, an argument for Justice,

which is a contribution to a debate about trans people in the UK that is often very

dangerous and very hostile and very stupid. And Sean is a passionate and brilliant and very funny advocate for the rights and humanity of trans people.

And so we're very excited to join her for that event.

And then on June 11th at Common Press in Hackney in London, we're going to be joined by a friend of the show Juliet Jakes, who wrote the wonderful memoir

Transitions and hosted the podcast Studio 212, and we're going to be in conversation about the book,

and all tickets to that event include a free cocktail, so that's exciting.
