The race is on, and whatever your feeling is on the way the championship ended, it has been a remarkable, and at times controversial season full of brilliant driving performances. So we have picked our top 10 drivers of 2021. I'm Ed Strow and joining me to argue about the rankings,

0:22.6

are Mark Hughes, and special guest, Curran Chandock. Hello, Curie. I'll start with you.

0:28.1

Right now with the dust still sort of up in the air after Abadabee, there's a lot going on.

0:33.1

But looking at the wider picture, which is what this is all about, it has been an amazing season,

0:38.0

hasn't it? Yeah, absolutely extraordinary. You know, I think I've often said my favorite season

0:43.5

of F1 is 1997 for the drama, controversy, the racing, the number of teams in the fight. But this

1:07.7

97, were sensational. I can

1:10.0

only think of maybe two or three

1:12.1

sort of dull races this season really. So yeah, brilliant, brilliant year of F1.

1:17.7

Yeah, I'd agree with that. And you'd have to say, Mark Hughes, that because it's been such

1:21.5

a great season of races, we have seen these drivers really pushed to the maximum and challenged,

1:26.8

and it's been really interesting to

1:28.4

follow how the relative performance level of everyone has evolved yes and it's been remarkable how

1:34.6

the two title contenders they've lifted their own performances of the thought each other and

1:39.8

they've sort of lifted themselves clear of the field and even though they're in quite different cars from each other, the two title contenders,

1:48.4

they still were together beyond the rest of the field.
