What does it mean to really follow Jesus? Not just on the outside, like someone saying

I go to church, I believe all the teachings, I say some prayers, I try to be a good person know what's happening on the

inside. You see being a serious Catholic involves realizing that at the heart

of our Catholic faith isn't just a bunch of moral rules and doctrines and liturgical

practices at the very heart is a relationship. It's a friendship with Jesus and

Jesus is longing for us to enter deeply in friendship with him.

He doesn't just want us to learn more about him.

He wants us to know him.

To know him in a deep friendship that changes everything about our lives.

He's longing for that.

He's longing not just for my obedience, he's longing for my heart. He's longing for me not just to follow a bunch of

Catholic rules, he's longing for me to follow him. Now all those doctrines and

rules and liturgical practices and prayers are all essential for our relationship with Jesus,

but they're not at the very center. You see at the very center Jesus longing for me.

That same Jesus that walked the streets of Galilee 2,000 years ago,

calling Andrew and Peter and Matthew and the other original disciples, that same Jesus steps into our lives today and he

says the same two words he spoke to them 2,000 years ago. He's saying those same

words to you. He's saying, follow me. Imagine Jesus looking
