Hi, I'm Edwards Three, and welcome to all things Catholic where real faith meets real life.

In our modern world we pride ourselves as the most educated, sophisticated,

technologically advanced, and yet we're arguably the most anxious, the most depressed, the most lonely, the most unhappy.

Why?

We can look out the world, we see so many problems, division, polarization, greed, lust, anger, marriages, and families falling apart.

But we don't have to look out in the world.

We could just look in our own souls, in our own hearts.

And we notice a lot of fear, a lot of anxiety, trust issues, we have trouble trusting other people and we have

trouble trusting and surrendering everything to God. We could be quick to blame others

and defend ourselves and slow to listen and understand.

We find ourselves struggling with selfishness and pure desires and we live like St Paul, like how he describes

in Romans chapter 7.

He says, why is it that I do the things I don't want to do?

And the good that I know I should do, I fail to do.

Why is this?

Why do we have these problems out in the world

and these problems within our own souls?

Well, you know, if you were a modern sociologist, you might say, oh, it's the iPhone and

social media that's causing all these problems, or it's the internet or Hollywood,

or, you know, maybe you might say well

it was my parents my parents you know harmed me and my family they're the problem or my

boss or my parish and I look at the government leaders that they're the problem if we just get the right
