This week’s worst kept secret has finally been confirmed: Franco Colapinto will replace Jack Doohan at Alpine. We disagree about whether it was the right decision and ask how Franco might fare under a controversial new Alpine boss, as Flavio Briatore takes over from Oliver Oakes.

Hello everybody and welcome back to an emergency P1 podcast.

0:10.4

That's right. We've got news and when we've got news, we go with a pod.

0:14.4

I was going to say go live. We're not live, Tommy.

0:16.0

We're in the past now as this is being listened to by people.

0:19.8

But welcome, once again. And it's a bit

0:22.8

of news that we could sense was coming. The rumor mill, I mean, the rumor mill had started before

0:27.5

lap one of the Australian Grand Prix. But it started to accelerate, didn't it, Tommy, in the last

1:11.1

race, which is quite a bizarre thing to happen. It's almost like they're a chaotic team.

1:15.9

Goodness, what a record that is. That's the second driver now that's been dropped in six

1:21.3

race weekends. If we continue on this form, we'll have eight gone by the end of the year. So

1:27.3

hopefully not for the sake of people's Formula One careers and giving them a little bit of time.

1:32.6

And our championship table of one to 20 when it ends up being one to 40.

1:37.2

Well, we did say, didn't we?

1:38.9

Maybe we need to put in a few drivers, we think.

1:41.2

But it's quite difficult to keep on top of all of this.
