First day of school, excited.

I'm so excited.

I've been getting up testing myself for the past two weeks now, making sure I can get

up early.

On a muggy Monday morning in late August, on San Antonio's east side, Akim Brown is in

a state of constant motion, running from building to building at the charter school he found

it.

Essence Preparatory Public School.

So now I'm just checking on everybody, see how everybody's feeling.

They have everything they need.

As Akim greets the staff and teachers, you can feel the excitement.

That's because Essence Prepar isn't just opening his doors for the first day of this

school year.

It's opening his doors for the first time ever.

So our teachers are doing their best to get ready.

It's very difficult for us because we're literally, we're moving in on Thursday and Friday

of last week.
