And the Oscar goes to the shape of water.

All right, everybody, the Oscars, the 90th Oscars have just concluded just a few minutes ago when you're doing not necessarily

an episode here on the Next Best Picture podcast, but we are simply recording our instant

reactions to the evening.

I have myself on right now, Matt Neglia, you all know me, and we also have Dienkiazzi

with us. You all know her. Yes. I'm so excited.

And we also have Michael Schwartz, too. Hello, everyone. Quite the show. I know.

Quite the show. There was a little bit of like everything for everybody, except, oh, I'm really sorry, Lady Bird fans.

I truly am.

Yeah, well, you know what?

I went out on the ledge, and I'm happy that I did, but you can't have it all, I guess.

So just officially speaking, really quick, I wanted to save for the record, myself, Dianne, and Will Mavity all led NBP predictions 20 out of 24 categories.

And Dian, you and I, we got best picture.

We got best picture.

You were the smart ones.

Well, and honestly, this is even just extra happy for me because everyone knows it was also my favorite film of the year. So this is like double duty. I couldn't be happier. Yeah, four awards. I mean, that's a great run. And it's one of the first movies we've seen in a few years. That's the nomination leader that goes in with Best Picture. Yeah. You know, for me, it's like, it wasn't in my top 10, just narrowly missed.

I love the film very, very much.

And I think that all of the awards, it did win, both like, you know, from a technical standpoint, also too, what the best picture win does represent.

I think that some people, you know, misread the film a little too much with the

whole, you know, a woman with a fish storyline. And they don't really read into the whole fact that it's,

you know, a bunch of outcast and minority characters, you know, battling against this G-man

and how politically and socially relevant that is to our times right now.
