Summary

The 2023 Film Independent Spirit Awards were held last night, representing the best in independent film for 2022. After the show, I hopped on a Zoom call with Jonathan Fuji, aka. "The Film Drunk," Zoe Rose Bryant (who joins later) and, as per tradition, the NBP Film Community right after the show to talk about the winners and our thoughts on what any of this means for the Oscar race while voting is still going on. Since Film Independent is an organization anyone can join, it makes sense to celebrate this evening with the community, some of whom are voters themselves! Tune in below to listen and enjoy! I knew heading into tonight, as I'm sure you did too, that this was going to be a good night for it after a series of good nights the last couple of weeks. To the point that I'm actually, I'm actually at a point where I'm like, you know what? Can we just skip ahead to the Oscars? I don't really need it to keep on winning at this point because now I'm just starting to feel bad for the other nominees. Yep. Yep. I mean, you made your point. You're amazing. We get it.
