Life is a journey, and the fourth section of the Psalms, known as the Numbers' Psalms, show us the goodness and guidance of God along that journey.

If we want to move forward, we must look up. Let's join Scott Pauli now as we open the Word of God and find direction for the road of life.

Like so many of the other Psalms, Psalm 106 begins and ends with a hallelujah.

It begins with praise you the Lord, and it ends with praise you the Lord.

And that's very fitting because we've come to the end of what is referred to as the numbers

Psalms.

You remember that each section of the Psalms, each of these five sections, ends with a great

benediction. And this one ends this way. Blessed be the Lord God of Israel from everlasting to

everlasting and let all the people say, amen, praise ye the Lord. I hope you can say that today. Amen.

Praise ye the Lord. Yet Psalm 106 is not only a Psalm of hallelujah it is also a Psalm of history

you remember that the last Psalm Psalm 105 was intensely historical and it was all about God

you remember God's wisdom God's grace and mercy God's power God's covenant about God. When you come to Psalm 106, the history

is centered more on man's failure. He shows the other side of the coin, if you will. History,

maybe that's why people hate it so much. History not only reveals how good God is, it also

reveals how bad man is. It not only reveals the faithfulness of God, in so many ways,

it reminds us of our unfaithfulness. And yet, friends, these are lessons we must not miss,

we must not forget. You remember in these number Psalms, we've been learning something about

obeying God. Along the journey of life, at every step, just obeying God.

Well, Psalm 106 teaches us from the negative side the consequences of not obeying God.

Let me read just a little bit of it to you.

He says in verse 3, blessed are they that keep judgment and he that doeth righteousness at all times.

In other words, the blessing comes on those who obey.
