We are now after two weeks of holiday

recommendations we are jumping into our favorite reads of the year I think for

those of you who've been playing along, you may know that I

pay attention to language and so does Rebecca. You may notice in best reads of the

year, we are not saying the best books of 2021, the greatest, the whatever, it's our favorite reads. So I've got a couple backlist things. We haven't talked about anything like that, but it's fair game. If I read it in 2021, it is eligible to be on my list. Rebecca, is that what you were coming with too? Or I don't know how much backlist you're doing these days.

I'm doing, I did more front list this year

than last year because I've got the ability

to read serious books back in 2021. It wasn't just me and you know now I can't remember

the guy who wrote Charlotte's web what is his come on, E. B. White. It's

Friday in my soul, Jeff. It's okay. I know. It's the Friday of the year. E. B.

white. I was like, W. E. B. That's not right. It wasn't just me and E. B. White sitting on our farm in Maine trying

to find some comfort this year. I have a couple backlist but they are recent

backlist most everything and that was my favorite this year came out this year but not all of it

Unsurprisingly for those you've been listening to some of the books we've talked about extensively make both

of our lists and we're going to talk about that group kind of like the BR pod RST&LP picks. Some of it is I think I

find that my fondness for a book grows if I talk about it right so there's that piece of it too that we had the conversation but we also stacking the decks we pick the books to talk about because we think we're going to like them and I think I don't know what our track record is about choosing something to read together and talk about on the show that we've been disappointed but it feels like the hit rate was extremely high this year for things we decided to talk about and I wonder if to that dragged you

kicking and screaming or at least dragged you a little bit out of Maine that we

had some unmissible picks right we had we had a Coulson Whitehead we had

Lauren Groff we had an a chaguro which frankly did kick it kind of that was a turning point for me Claire in the Sun
