So the year is 2018. I mean, we're fresh out of high school. It's a big year for us. I mean,

it was super fun to go through 2018 because there's a lot of good music that dropped that year.

And I also feel like being a hip-hop fan in 2018 was a super eventful year. It was something that was super

entertaining. You had so many major events go down. And it felt like every single month there was a major release right like

you had j cole come through you had drake come through you had kendrick who ended up dropping

a soundtrack for the black panther movie you had so much stuff in the mix you also had the

wyoming run you had just a lot of big events but i mean looking back do you think that this is

one of the strongest years hip hop has ever seen?

I think it's one of the strongest years, like, in hip hop history.

And like for me personally, yes, you could argue 96, 94, there's certain years that are seen as the best.

But my favorite year as a hip hop fan, obviously, because I live through it, has to be 2018.

And it's for all the reasons you were just just saying we got to see so many albums that

stirred up so much conversation you know what i mean like you had the return of little wing

with a carter five you had the blowups of juice world and of xxxedintacian you had um some of the

most eventful rap battles um of all time within that year.

And it was just constant excitement week after week.

There was something to look forward to, something to talk about.

And I just feel like there was also a bunch of diverse albums.

And there was this different level of competitive spirit that was sort of around.

And I feel like since then, we haven't had a year in hip hop that's been as good.

But that's why it's going to be an exciting episode today because we have so many underrated

gems that we haven't covered all that much that we're going to be bringing in today.
