0:00.0 | Hello, everybody. Welcome to a new episode of the Min Max Show podcast. Thank you for being here. My name is Ben Hansen. I'm joined by the one and only Jeff Markier Fava. |
0:28.0 | That's me. And we're joined by the one and only Kyle Hilliard. What's up? Hey, we're trying to add some new personalities as they've joined by Janet Garcia. Hello. And I know what you're all thinking at home. What is this? Last week? No, we just we enjoyed that podcast so much. We said let's stick with the same people forever. That's not true. But it just so happens to work out four of us. I guess workout for this episode again, too, because by God Kyle, we're only covering one thing and one thing only in this episode of the podcast. |
0:58.0 | You know what that is? Horizon forbidden West again. One more time. Yeah, Jeff was playing Horizon called the mountain and he is ready to tear the place apart, defending it. No, we are talking about demos. Glorious demos. We're going to unpack our favorite demos of all time, a little round table. And this is inspired by if you look at the games that we're covering on this episode of the podcast, it's like, wait, actually, these all connect with a theme and that theme is demos, because we're talking about what we're talking about. |
1:27.0 | demos, because we're talking about what long file and dynasty, which has a demo out now is had a demo out for a while. We're talking about humanity, the upcoming puzzle game that also has a demo out now. Well, the demo was out. I think now you can't get it anymore. So you missed your shot, but it had a demo for everybody. |
1:44.0 | Occupy traveler, too, which is a very generous demo as well. And then we're recording this before the Capcom stream is happening on Thursday, but it seems like people are probably going to be talking a lot about this certain Resident Evil 4 demo that they've already promised. And so that'll probably be coming very soon if you're not playing it right now. So demos are in the air, man. |
2:05.0 | Hansen, can you say demo 10 more times, please? |
2:08.0 | I don't understand what you aren't understanding about this everybody. It's demos demos or what we're talking about. |
2:15.0 | All along is out just to clarify people sitting like you can play the full game. |
2:19.0 | You can play the full game. And we've all played a bit of it. Kyle's played a hell of a lot of it. So we're going to unpack all that fun stuff. But Kyle, when I say the word demo, what era do you think of what game do you think of? |
2:31.0 | What's on the top of your head, man? |
2:34.0 | I think of personally, because there was I was like demos are very important to the era of the PlayStation 1. Yes, but I was not much of a PlayStation 1 kid. I came to the PlayStation 1 late. |
2:46.0 | So I my sort of big demo time was actually PlayStation 2. I remember and I had just started working at GameStop for the first time. |
2:55.0 | And so I would just take whenever they went to go throw away the magazines. I would just take all the demo discs out because they were still releasing them for PS2. |
3:01.0 | So I had a booklet full of like PlayStation 2 demos that I played all the time. |
3:06.0 | Wait, would you take extra for your friends and stuff or you just be sneaky and just have one and then fill that whole booklet out? |
3:12.0 | I mean, I was the only one with the PlayStation 2, I think. So I wasn't like I was withholding anything from my friends, but I would have happily given them demos if they wanted them. |
3:20.0 | Yeah, it was that's what what that was about with PS1 era for you. What were you just talking about? Super. |
3:25.0 | And 64 of course was I yeah. |
3:28.0 | Yeah, I did eventually I bought Mega Man X 4 was the thing that made me go get a PlayStation, but even that was pretty late in the life cycle. |
3:37.0 | I think PS2 is out at that point. Maybe I could be wrong about that. |
3:40.0 | Right. Weird. Yeah, I definitely connect it for like PS1 like getting the PS1 is my first console that I had. |
3:48.0 | And there's some magic about just printing disks were relatively cheap. So demo disks were flying fast and loose, but this is dumb. |
