Summary

Duty is a critically important principle for advancing the Kingdom of God, and often involves us doing things that we don't necessarily want to do. God honors those who live up to their calling and fulfill their duty, which often looks like obeying Him, loving our neighbor, and bringing heaven to earth. Duty supersedes desire, and early Americans better understood the importance and blessing of fulfilling one's duty. Today's Christ followers must also have a sense of duty, and understand that God has made us on purpose and for a purpose, and we cannot be deterred by the sacrifice that duty often asks of us. The Lord has a plan to work all things together to accomplish His goodness and purpose, and all he asks from His children is faithfulness to what He has called us to do.
