I invite you to take your Bibles, if you have one, or take one from the pew in front of you

and turn with me to Hebrews near the end of the New Testament, chapter 2, and I want to read with you verses 9 through 13.

Hebrews 2 will start at verse 9. But we do see him who has been made for a little while lower than the angels, namely Jesus.

Because of the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor

that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone.

For it was fitting for him, namely God the Father,

for whom are all things and through whom are all things in bringing many sons

to glory to perfect the author of their salvation, namely Jesus, through sufferings.

Come back, that's a very complex sentence and we will come back to it.

For both he who sanctifies and those who are sanctified are all from one father, for which reason

he is not ashamed to call them brethren, saying, and he quotes Psalm 22,

I will proclaim thy name to my brethren in the midst of the congregation, I will sing thy thy praise and again I will put my trust in him and again behold I and the children whom God has given to me.

Father as I attempt to unfold some of this glorious passage of scripture, I ask for your help again. I ask for help for me that I would be faithful to your word, that I would be filled with your spirit, and I ask for your help for the listeners that there

would be a heart and a mind given to attend to the greatness of our salvation. And I ask that you would protect us from that soaring satanic word plucker who tries to steal the seed off the path and fly away with it and leave us thinking

about nothing but this afternoon's business. Lord draw near and do a supernatural work of

transformation and salvation in this room I ask in Jesus in name, amen.

Let me try to bring us all up to speed in where we are in the flow of thought in the book of Hebrews here. In chapter one, the main point was Jesus is not an angel.

Jesus is worshipped by angels because Jesus is God.

Jesus is the final decisive word spoken by God the Father into these last days, chapter 1, verse 2.

And then to celebrate this Jesus, he piles up glories of Jesus. He says he was the air of all things. Through him all things were made.

He's the radiance of the glory of the father.

He's the exact representation of the father's nature. He made purification for sins. He sat down at the right hand of the
