I am so glad that you are tuning in.

And today we get into a brand new program from old time radio,

one of radio's earliest programs, Lights Out.

Lights Out was an American old time radio program devoted mostly to horror and the supernatural.

It was created by Willis Cooper and then eventually taken over by Arch Obler.

Different versions of the show aired on different networks at various times from January 3rd of

1934 to the summer of 1947.

The series eventually made the transition to television as well.

In the fall of 1933, NBC writer Willis Cooper conceived the idea of a midnight mystery serial to catch the attention

of the listeners at the witching hour. The idea was to offer listeners a dramatic program

late at night at a time when the competition was mostly airing music.

I've got one of my favorite plays that I'm going to be airing today from Lights Out called The Calfin in Studio B.

Actors in this play are Jack Bivens, Charles Eggleston, and Don Gallagher.
