Welcome back. This is the big blue banter. New York Giants football podcast. I'm Dan Schneier. Join as always my co-host, Nick Falado, getting ready for Memorial Day weekend over here. Always a fun weekend. Not that I'm a big birthday guy. I really don't care. And I will say this. I stole this from my friend Brett Child. But I stand by it and I'm using this, and I've told it to my parents since, if you ever sing the birthday song to me, Nick, at a restaurant, because we're going out for dinner, my family and I and my brother and his girlfriend, Kara, and if you ever sing the birthday song to me at my birthday dinner or any dinner that's around my birthday, I will get up and I will walk so they know they know what the deal is i do not want that stupid song song to me terrible song terrible moment i don't want the attention and nick do you remember the episode of curb your enthusiasm where larry david was at ben sillis birthday party and he was the only one in the room who refused to sing the birthday song and then still like gives him that look like what the hell man why are you not singing this song

and i'm with larry man because screw that song it's a stupid song just don't want it i don't want it

at all so you know what if you want to sing it to me in a different language or something that might

be somewhat interesting you change the tune up a little bit but happy birthday to to you, just don't ever do it. It's one of those songs that gets sung to you. And it's almost like a shameful thing as a man to sit there and hear, at least for me, like, I'm like, all right, like if I get up, it's a whole scene. I don't want to cause the scene. So I just kind of sit there and I take the song and stride. And then I'm just like, all right, let's everyone shut up so everyone else can eat cake and I can sit here and have my salad.

Yeah, exactly. Exactly right, Nick. But yeah, so I'll be celebrating the birthday this week with some family and some friends, but I'm excited for that, excited just for this time of year is always nice as we head into May, at least for me, Nick. I'm going to be honest because these next two months are basically the only time of year where I'm not working that hard, like as hard as usual. I shouldn't say that hard. There's still some things to do on the CBS front. But for the Giants, like we're going to recap OTAs today. And this was a week of OTAs. They did two practices earlier this week, and then today's practice was the first one. The media had access to Nick and I are not at these practices.

That will most likely remain the case throughout the offseason,

but we will see. I typically don't have opportunities to go to practice based on the schedule and

the timing of them because I have to do work for CBS sports and I'm on and that comes first. And Nick is on the other side of the

country. So he, uh, at least for now. So he, uh, he might not be there either, but we're going to try to get to a few. We'll try to get to the fan fest. But either way, just to give this, I wanted to bring this up the beginning of the show, Nick, just so people are, are well aware of the fact that we are, you know, utilizing the beat writers for these reports. So I will be

giving them credit throughout the show. I have it all listed in my notes. So who's We are, you know, utilizing the beatwriters for these reports.

As far as the beat writers go, I have over the years, Nick, come to learn that some of these beat writers are more fluff than others.

Let's leave it at that.

So I know which ones I believe a little bit more than others when it comes to this guy's amazing today in these shorts and shell practices with no pass rush and things of that nature. But they're fun to talk about. So we're going to talk about them today. For those of you who have been waiting for content, just know that this time of the year is a little bit more dead. We're not fully in the dead time yet, but we're close. And we're going to try to spice it up this dead time. Me and Nick spent some time, the last two days brainstorming ideas, coming up with things that will be fun to do. I'm not going to give them all the way right now, but some of the fun things we're going to do, one that I'm looking forward to most, which we'll probably do next week or the week after, when it really gets dead and OTAs aren't even here, are Nick and I are going to expansion draft the Giants roster

from scratch.

So the assumption will be that we are two expansion teams.

We need to draft players from the Giants roster.

Similar to when we drafted the 2023 NFL draft and Nick game theoryed me to get both
