Directed by Todd Field and starring Kate Blanchett centers on a successful conductor whose offstage decisions leave her at a constant

risk of perhaps an overdue fall from grace. It's up for six Academy Awards, Best Picture,

best director Todd Field, best actress, Kate Blanchett, best original screenplay, best cinematography,

best film editing. It's a 91 on Rotten Tomatoes in runs two hours in 38 minutes. We have reviewed

this movie before, but more so than any of the other Best Picture nominees, this is a movie

where there might as well only be one person in the movie and nobody else on the screen.

Yeah, this is 100% the Cape Blanchett show.

And for great reasons, all appropriate reasons, she is the driving force of this movie,

both in its plot and execution and in its redeeming qualities.

Like, I, this is one of those movies.

It happens to me like at least once every year where I watch a movie and I'm like,

this is a good movie that is going to get like a ton of critic praise, but it's not really

for me.

And that's how I felt about this movie.

This movie is really

strong in a lot of technical categories. The performance is off the charts from Cape Blanchette,

but the subject matter wasn't that interesting to me. Yeah, so we learned in 2021,

2022, I suppose, that Cape Blanchett, if we didn't know already,

Cape Blanchett can play a bad guy really well.
