I am joined by my colleague in banter, Matt Bellany. Hello, Matt. Hi there.

So, Matt, let me take you on the emotional journey that I went on last night with the Oscars.

Before the show started, I was thinking, you know, this is against all odds. They have every obstacle in their way.

It's been the longest Oscar season in memory. People haven't seen the movies in theaters,

if at all. And they're trying to put on a show. So let's try to be positive and supportive.

You know, not necessarily my usual posture, but okay, let's try that. And then the show started,

Matt. And they had promised, they had promised big things. And, you know, halfway through the show,

as you remember, I texted you and Caitlin, our producer, and said, do we even want to talk about

this? Because it seemed to be not jelling. And then things got really crazy. Yeah. I mean,

it's unfortunate what happened to the producers and to the show,

but clearly they had built up and made changes to the order of the awards

in order to get a big emotional finish when Chadwick Boseman's widow got up on stage

to accept his posthumous Oscar.

Unfortunately, that didn't happen.

Anthony Hopkins won.

And the Oscars ended on this abrupt soprano style fade to black.

Thanks for everything, but, you know, just nothing.

And we were all left with a gut punch.

Yeah, I mean, I don't want to say that Anthony Hopkins did an outstanding performance.

And as our awards analyst, the Hollywood Reporter, pointed out, you know, Chadwick Bozeman was in Maureen's Black Bottom, which did not have a mark of destiny on it this award season necessarily.

And posthumous awards are not necessarily given automatically. There was some blowback, I think,
