I'm good. I'm good. Just like a little nervous, but I'm mostly excited. I've been listening to your podcast for a long time. And my dad is actually the one that brought it to my attention. He's like, I think you really love this podcast. And I started listening to it and binge it.

0:45.6

And then he's the one that was like,

0:47.8

hey, like, I told him that we had chatted a little bit and he was just like, you should do it. And I was like, no, I don't know. And he's actually the one that convinced me to do it. So I think he'll be really, really stoked. I actually appreciate that a lot. I don't think I've ever really had somebody on the podcast

1:02.2

who found the podcast because of their parents.

1:04.9

Yeah, no, my dad's always been really supportive.

1:07.7

Both my parents have been super supportive. I feel like I had a very, very ideal coming out. And both my parents from the get go have been the kind of parents that just want to make sure that I'm genuinely happy. And so they've been very open with me, they allow me to be very open with them with what I'm going through. And so me talking about my sexuality and me being gay and identifying that way has always been something that has been fine, has been okay. It it's rarely I've rarely felt like I had to conceal about part after coming out. Yeah, right. So yeah, I feel I feel very lucky to have parents like that. That's great. Well, I appreciate that. I appreciate the word of mouth promotion too. Yeah, I appreciate. I've never heard of Santa Maria. Where is Santa Maria? So it's on the central coast of California. So it's like about an hour north of Santa Barbara. It's like closest big city. Well, it's a complete agricultural town. So like literally for driving down the 101 freeway. One side is all like residential and businesses and the other side is literally fields. And so I grew up, it's a predominantly Latin next community there.

And so I grew up, it's a predominantly Latin

next community there. And so I grew up with the fields being very much part of my life. So it was like, you know how like when you're a kid, your parents are like, ah, if you don't do this, like, if you're cool, cool, he's gonna get you, right? For us, it was like, hey, if you don't do good in school, the way about it was feel this, you can go work and you'll see what real work is like.

2:45.9

So it was always very much a part of how we grew up, that work ethic and whatnot. But yeah, it's like a small town, not much to do there, strip balls and, you know? What was it like back then? I don't have like a ton of memories as far as like me just like going around the town myself. I was pretty, I would say sheltered.

3:04.8

I was like a homebody.

3:06.3

As a kid, I didn't really like even in my neighborhood. I didn't really like go out and play much. I was more of a like, I'm gonna stay inside or I'm gonna go like look at bugs on the backyard. So the memories that I have are more memories of like me being home with my family, or me being at family functions

3:25.7

with my extended family, like at the park or something.

3:28.4

But it was a very sleepy town.

3:31.8

There was just never much going on.

3:34.2

No news. It felt very like even like when I was a got older,

3:38.2

it felt so boring to me that I was just itching

3:41.1

to get out of there.

3:42.4

And now in retrospect I go back and I'm like,

3:44.1

ah, it's actually really nice. It's really nice and quiet, right?
