Summary

Adam and Chelsea talk candidly about “work-life balance” and how easy it is to give our best at work while giving our families what’s left over. They discuss why family discipleship can feel less urgent but is infinitely more important, and how to reorder our loves so that our best energy goes to the people God has entrusted to us.Contact us through our website. Chelsea? Hello, I'm well. Are you well? You're sitting in a portable sauna. You look. Well, it was

cloudy today. Well, you look

comfortable. You look ready. The question we're going to cover in brief today is about work, life

balance. People ask us that a lot. We're going to pose the question like this. Are we giving our best

to work and our leftovers to our family? Are we giving our best to work and our leftovers to our family? Well, there's a lot. Sometimes we hear it posed like one spouse against the other. Like I feel like my husband's just giving us our leftovers, but he gives his best at work. Chelsea, what do you think? When we talk about work, life, balance, leftovers at home, best work somewhere else. What comes to mind

for you? Well, I think the stakes seem so much higher at our workplaces. There's real expectations

and real consequences. And of course, of course, the reality is that the Lord has asked us

to teach our children diligently and to share our faiths with the next generation. The Lord has

expectations for us also.

1:29.3

And there certainly are consequences for failing to impart our faith to the next generation

or for failing to disciple, for failing to teach our children the wisdom of how to apply God's

word to live in God's world, to stay on the narrow path.

1:45.0

There are, of course, wild consequences to not giving that our best.

1:50.7

But work, I think, creates that tyranny of the urgent, right?

1:54.7

If I don't show up to work, it's going to be a big deal.

1:57.8

At my work, that's a huge deal if you don't show up or if you don't do your best or if you don't meet every single apartment every single time you're there. There's some real accountability there. Whereas if you show up with your family a certain way, there's always this temptation to think, you know, I'll do better tomorrow, but there's no one to really call me out on this today, you know? Yeah, I think that's a

great comment, I think. I like the way you describe it as the stakes feel different. Sometimes people
