success is about being in the spotlight. If you have a message you want to bring forth, a way

you want to help people, then you've got to be in

the spotlight. Everyone must be a content creator. Everyone must become a known personality.

Everyone must grow a platform and be on stage and perform. But I just don't find the strategy

tenable or reasonable, not for everyone. I feel we're treating business kind of like baseball and telling everyone they've got to be

the pitcher if you want to play.

Baseball works because of the value of an entire team, not just one position.

So I'm bringing back a conversation with Tim Scherer.

Tim spent a decade working as C.O. with renowned spiritual

author, formerly, spiritual author, and now business leader Donald Miller, who I've had on the

podcast, I don't know, two or three times now. But Tim helped launch story brand and then

business made simple with Don Miller. And while Don had the spotlight, Tim ran the business and built and led the team that made it all

possible. Before that, Tim did similar things working with Tom's, you know, his Tom's shoes,

as well as Apple. Tim authored a book titled to the Secret Society of Success, Stop Chasing the Spotlight,

and learn to enjoy your work, and in quotes, and life again.

He hosts the Build a Winning Team podcast where he talks about these concepts and offers

listeners actionable advice as he interviews a lot of the top leaders in business talking about

this issue of not everyone being in the spotlight. So we talk about really, I think, far greater
