And today I'm continuing on our discussion about how to heal intergenerational trauma.

Last episode, I talked about shifting a little bit away from using the phrase generational

curses and really naming what it is that so many of us are dealing with as black women,

which is trauma.

And not just the trauma that we've experienced firsthand going through life, but the trauma of our ancestors,

of our parents, of our grandparents, and down the line. We talked about how that is at play

in today's world and how some things have made cultural inroads into our community that have a direct callback, both good and for the bad,

in our actual culture and lives. And so today I want to talk about how do we then opt into

the process of healing intergenerational trauma, leaving behind the concept of struggle.

Again, understanding that our true birthright is not one of struggle and difficulty,

but one of joy and abundance and community.

And in so many ways, that is the first step, is just acknowledging through mindset work that

life is more than a repeating, never-ending cycle. And sometimes we're in cycles we're not even

aware of. Every day more I learn by going to therapy, by just living my life, by practicing

podcast of parts of my life that are misaligned or random patterns of behavior that I have that I

didn't realize we're playing out in some way intergenerational trauma.

I think about what I've inherited from my parents. There are so many

beautiful qualities that I have in my life. And I can definitely draw a line of success from what I've

learned from them, the qualities I've taken. My mom's determination and practicalness,

her connection to her children. We grew up feeling loved at all times.
