All right, I think we're good. Welcome back to Colonial Outcast. This is an impromptu,

a shorter episode about Rafa. This is Monday, March 11th. There's a lot of stuff going on.

There's some BS about an aid port. There's been some fatal airdrops continuing, and this ongoing

humanitarian crisis is a massive, well, I would say

political blunder amongst other things like a humanitarian catastrophe. But today we are joined by

my friend Matthew Enderlaine. He was an active duty army officer for eight years, deployed to Afghanistan in 2014.

And after leaving the army, he worked as an anti-poaching advisor for conservation NGOs in Central Africa and Lebanon.

Currently living in Egypt, just went by, tried to get into Rafa a couple days ago sent a video and we're just kind of

hoping we get the situation on the ground and then we're going to spend the second half of the

episode talking about this aid port coming in or this proposed aid port that's going to be built

in what two months so Matt thanks for coming on today

Matt's frozen yeah okay awesome yeah we're kind of uh coordinating halfway around the globe so

there may be some lag time apologies for the listeners um all right man so you just uh

got back from rafa you said uh i think when you texted me the message it says you had some

trouble making it there uh the police outside of erish turned you back and but you can see hundreds

of aides trucks and you sent a video which we're going to play shortly uh and you spoke to a lot of drivers on what is happening on both sides of the border.

Yes, correct.

The idea was to make it to Rafah and just try to discover what actually is happening on the ground in terms of where and how the aid is being blocked

and what challenges that these drivers meet along the way. Unfortunately, I was not able to make it there,

which was not too much of a surprise because it is a difficult place to access without permission from the government

or without access through an NGO or aid organization or some other entity like that.

So I did make it almost to El-Rish and before we were turned back by police.
