This is Baseball Tonight podcast for Friday, March 29, 2024, and today will be better than yesterday.

Taylor Schwink is producing this from back in Connecticut in his home and I'm

boster only and I'm down in Texas back in my hotel room after the first broadcast that

we've done our Sunday night group we had the Rangers we had the Chicago Cubs. It was a phenomenal game

Taylor and and I could tell like by your face how it was a fun first day of baseball.

It really was I mean just about every game had something interesting to chew on you know and I feel like you could just say oh it's opening day

but I feel like a lot of the sort of the storylines we'd been talking through in the off season

they've kind of bore some fruit here at least in day one it was exciting there's a lot of drama

my Orioles got it done Cor Corbin Burns, absolutely shoving it. It was sweet man, so a good day

of baseball and an excellent game on ESPN.

Yeah, it was a great game. A close game goes into extra innings between the Rangers and the

Cubs but bad news for the Cubs Justin Steele their ace looks like he's gonna be

out a while all right so news and notes before we get some of the highlights for the first day.

Since the last podcast taping, the Diamondbacks signed

Jordan Montgomery to a one-year deal for $25 million.

It has a vesting option on a second year. It's pretty incredible

that this is where we landed. Think about these numbers, okay? Jordan Montgomery and

Blake's now, two clients of Scott Boris wind up signing for

guaranteed dollars of about 87 million dollars or so that is about 50 million

dollars less these are two left-handers coming off career

years about 50 million dollars less than what Tyler Glass now got with the
