It's opening day. We are excited. We have lineups. We have a closer getting traded on opening day, no less. All sorts of chaos here to help us sort out. Mike Curlin. We're going to be talking about that momentarily. The

The Hey, everybody. Welcome to opening day, the Roto Wire Fancy Baseball podcast. I'm Jeff

That's K-U-R-L-A-N-D. Mike, happy opening day. How's it going? Beyond excited. Very thankful to be on, as always. Love chopping it up with you, man. And yeah,

1:11.6

happy opening day. What happened to the mustache? You had a beautiful mustache at first pitch

1:16.8

Arizona. What happened? Beautiful is putting it kindly. My wife, my wife happened. I promised

1:22.7

her I would shave it after I got back. I only grew it out for Justin Mason and the fellas over there.

1:27.4

Nice. Yeah, it was a, it was a definitely, it definitely attracted more people than I anticipated, but it was, it was beautiful and glorious and absolutely annoying. But yeah, it's gone. There you go. I've, I've got a, you know, facial look that's been pretty popular in the 90s, and my wife still likes it. So perfect, man, but there you go. Nostolic feelings is what it is. It's nostalgia. Yeah, I think it makes me look younger or something. I don't know, but or hides my face better. Regardless, let's focus on baseball. Also, this podcast is brought to you by the good folks at Winbet. We thank them as always. As alluded, we have a trade on opening day. It was a lit.

2:02.4

it was hinted at last night. It got finalized this morning. A closer is getting, we think at least a

2:08.2

closer is getting traded. That's Taylor Rogers, goes to, along with Brent Rooker, goes to the Padres.

2:14.5

In exchange, they get Chris Paddock, they get Emilio Pagan.

2:18.4

This is a pretty big, big trade.

2:20.6

It's already a shaky closer market and then you shake it up on opening day.

2:24.4

It's just wacky.

2:26.1

I don't know what to do with my hands.

2:28.4

Like, I don't know.

2:30.1

I actually targeted Rogers my final two OCs of the season as my RP,

2:34.4

my second closer. Because I'm like, okay, the twins made a 180, they're going for it. And I'm hopeful that the Padres will let him factor in. I think it could be more like a split deal because they don't have much lefty firepower out of that bullpen. So that kind of, that's where my concern comes in terms of him being the full time closer. But if he is a high leverage guy, Rogers, that is I'm speaking of, uh, he's a guy that should, I think at least get some 10, 15, which is still not, not nothing just takes away from, I mean, he was kind of falling in drafts anyway, all things considered. So maybe instead of getting a really good value, we kind of got what we drafted him as towards the end. Yeah, you know, the funny thing is I wanted him.

2:52.5

I was trying to do. instead of getting a really good value, we kind of got what we drafted them as towards the end.

3:08.2

Yeah, you know, the funny thing is I wanted him. I was targeting him and didn't get him.

3:14.1

At least in at least those late NFBC leagues, we were looking for that second closer, in some cases first.

3:22.5

Like, you know, I got, I missed out on them on a main event a week ago

uh had to settle for scott barler who has his own layer of uncertainty thanks to clay link pointing out
