Hi, this is Katia, executive producer of On the Media. So careful listeners, the ones who stay all the way

through the credits at the end of the show, might have heard Brooke mention a couple of weeks ago

that I was sick. I had a comparatively mild case of COVID-19 and was off work for a bit. I'm fine,

and I'm back producing the show. But something happened when I was sick.

I became a listener, like you guys.

For three weeks, I looked forward to Friday night

when I knew I would hear the voices of my colleagues and friends

to still the essential themes of the week.

Actually, I didn't just look forward to it.

I needed it.

I felt overwhelmed and saddened by so much of what

was happening around me and to me. And what I wanted was to be able to take a step back and

take a breath, a deep inhalation and an exhalation. That's what listening to on the media

was for me during those weeks. The team is working so hard to bring the show to you every week

and now comes the part where we ask you to do some work for us.

So many people are facing dire financial circumstances right now that we totally get it
