I'm Mike Roach of Orange 24-7 and each week I'll be sitting down with a friend or colleague

in the industry to talk over how they got to where they are and some general football subjects

as far as who is the best players you've seen and what are some of the best games you've seen.

This week, my guest is Greg Tepper from Dave Campbell's Texas football.

Greg, like me, grew up in the Metroplex, and then, you know, he's basically the voice of high school

football each and every year in the state of Texas. So we're definitely going to get into

talking some high school football, talk a little bit about Greg's path and talk about

the magazine itself, which influenced so many like myself. So without further ado, let's get on

to Greg Tepper. My next guest is unofficially the curator of Texas high school football each

season. Officially, he's the managing editor of Dave Campbell's Texas football, the studio host of

Fox Sports Southwest Emmy Award winning high school scoreboard Live and Fox Football Friday, hosts a podcast like Texas football today at Tepin' Step and the newly created Dave Campbell's virtual happy hour.

A husband of tep wife, father of Hank, and a friend of mine, it is the great Greg Tepper. Greg, thanks for joining me today. Roach, I appreciate you slumming it with the likes of me. This is a podcast that has

big-name guests and also me. Come on, man. This is, I think for every kid, like so,

so you and I grew up fairly similar. I think we're of same age or near I was

class of 03 you were 04 oh 4 so okay you were up in coppell I grew up in south irving so you

you're probably 15 minutes north of me if you're like me any kid kind of grew up like loving and

reading Dave Campbell's um That's kind of what I

guess I wanted to get into asking you was when you were growing up, was this your ultimate

end goal to one day to be the managing editor of Dave Campbell's? You know, it was and it wasn't. I think

that a lot of my goal was, I knew from a young age that I wanted to do journalism was I knew from a young age that I wanted to do journalism.

I knew from basically high school that I wanted to do something in journalism.
