Summary

On the afternoon of July 24, 2006 a 33-year-old man named Sean Dickus arrived home from work to discover his 26-year-old wife Chynna and 10-year-old son Blake had been brutally murdered inside their house in Franklin, IN. As the investigation proceeded, two possibilities quickly became apparent as the most likely scenario that rendered this horrifying result: one is that Sean Dickus himself could be the killer, and the other pointed the finger at a connection to a local string of burglaries that occurred in the area. Thirteen years after the crime, however, the assailant remains unknown, as does his motive. Join host Ryan Kraus for a psychological evaluation of the available evidence in an effort to piece together a narrative that finally offers the truth.

In this episode, we're taking a look at the horrific and untimely deaths of 10-year-old

Now, what makes this such an interesting case is that the killings have a very personal feel to them

0:35.7

yet there has never been a solid suspect in the case allowing it to go cold over the years

0:41.7

however it's difficult to forget the brutality of something like

0:45.1

this, so let's see what we can do to add some clarity as it pertains to unmasking the

0:50.4

assailant. Now, what really irks me about these killings, aside from

0:55.2

two innocent people being slaughtered of course, is that the police have released

0:59.0

very little information to the public regarding the circumstances surrounding the crime, especially as it pertains to the crime scene.

1:07.1

We don't know where the bodies were found inside the home or even if they were together.

1:12.2

On top of that, there's no description of the crime scene,

1:15.0

nor do we have access to any photos.

1:18.0

So, the idea behind that is to allow the investigators to vet suspects as they arise by withholding pertinent

1:26.4

information only the killer would know, and also to prevent the true assailant from learning

1:32.2

what evidence the cops do have on hand.

1:35.1

It's a good strategy, but not 13 years after the fact.

1:39.4

As of 2015, there were supposedly still five detectives actively working this case

1:45.0

so I'm assuming it hasn't gone completely cold in their eyes. But the reality is

1:50.2

whatever they're doing isn't quite working. That's not a criticism, just an observation

1:56.2

that suggests change is key. At some point, the V-DOC society got involved at the request of the police, yet that has only seemingly benefited
