that pace of executive action and his expansive view of presidential power, the press is facing familiar challenges in real time.

So to help guide the media through this moment, my guest today is Marty Barron.

He's the former executive editor for The Washington Post.

He was there for Trump 1.0.

He's the author of Collision of Power, Trump, Bezos, and The Washington Post.

So I can't think of a better person to discuss sort of the future of press coverage, the future of the media, and the future of journalism than with my friend Marty Barron.

Today is my last day, today Friday, January 31st, is my last day at NBC.

And it is, it is, look, I've been here a long time.

Let me just give you a sense of it.

I started as political director in 2007.

It was a month before my son was born.

He'll be graduating high school in a few months.

So what it means is I've been here a while.

So look, I am leaving a bit earlier than I had been, frankly, we had all originally planned, but there's a reason for it.

I'm pretty excited by a few new projects that are on the cusp of going from pie in the sky to near reality.

In fact, most of them are related to the conversation that I'll be having with Marty Barron here in this podcast about the future of news, future of local in particular. So frankly, I'm grateful for the chance to get a jumpstart
